Balancing search and display for digital display ads are important; marketers tend to look at the last search and attribute all of the effectiveness to this. This, in turn, disregards other marketing efforts, which establish brand value within the consumers mind. Overall both search and display aspects are valued as display campaigns build awareness for the brand so that more people are likely to click on these digital ads when running a search campaign (Whiteside, 2016).[43]

A generation ago, consumers were at the mercy of advertisers who spoon-fed them marketing messages across a few media channels: print, billboards, television, radio. Using an omni-channel strategy is becoming increasingly important for enterprises who must adapt to the changing expectations of consumers who want ever-more sophisticated offerings throughout the purchasing journey. Retailers are increasingly focusing on their online presence, including online shops that operate alongside existing store-based outlets. The "endless aisle" within the retail space can lead consumers to purchase products online that fit their needs while retailers do not have to carry the inventory within the physical location of the store. Solely Internet-based retailers are also entering the market; some are establishing corresponding store-based outlets to provide personal services, professional help, and tangible experiences with their products.[26]

Keywords -This means that you can target websites or apps that are contextually matched with the keywords you want or have that specific keywords in their content. For example, I want to target articles in websites that are doing Wordpress theme reviews. Then I will choose the option only to show my ads where “best Wordpress themes” is present in the content of the website

For example, let’s say you want to use Instagram as an acquisition strategy. You would go research all of the ways you can grow your Instagram and drive traffic from it, put them on a spreadsheet, rank the different ideas, then for the three that seem the best opportunities, design a small inexpensive test with a specific goal that spans over a week or two. At the end, check back and see how you did relative to your goal.
